Two years of religious education are required for children to celebrate First Eucharist, normally celebrated in Grade Two at Saint Virgil Church. Preparation is both catechetical and liturgical.

Children are required to attend the First Eucharist Preparation Day. The Preparation Day provides an experiential approach to deepening a child’s understanding of the Real Presence of Christ in the Eucharist. At least one parent must attend the Parent Meeting. Families are given their choice of Eucharist dates on a first-come-first-serve basis. All requirements and preparation procedures are contained in the Family Guide that is provided to parents at the parent meeting. Please call (973) 267-1366 for registration information.
